How To Make the Ultimate Iranian Comfort Food with Yasmin Khan

Yasmin Khan, author of The Saffron Tales and Zaitoun, stopped by the MUNCHIES Test Kitchen to teach us the ultimate Iranian comfort food. For an easy, rustic meal, serve this spiced beef with eggs and spring onions over rice, or scoop it up with flatbread.

MUNCHIES is a website and digital video channel from VICE dedicated to food and its global purpose. Launched in 2014, MUNCHIES offers groundbreaking content from a youth driven perspective. In today's modern world, the formerly tangible pleasures of music, film, and emerging media are just one click away. Food and the events that manifest around it are one of the everlasting experiences that cannot be replicated by arcs and zeroes. MUNCHIES chronicles the wide spectrum of the global culinary experience and the diverse voices that are pulling us forward: chefs and home cooks, makers and consumers, the politics and policies of food, "front" and "back of house" restaurant life, old wives tales and innovative news, and culturally significant indicators in our modern world. Through engaging original video content, compelling editorial features, articles, how-tos, recipes and events, MUNCHIES offers a signature perspective on the intersection where humans and food connect.

  1. This is the perfect food for those with ten thumps. πŸ˜‰ Easy to make, anywhere, and almost no dishes πŸ˜‰ Thanks. Btw. Iranian cuisine and trad.food-culture is amazing, and with a long heritage. πŸ™‚

  2. Dang, I feel like you guys have to start bumping the volume on a couple of these videos. I just played this side by side with another channel I sub to, and it's super quiet. Probably half the volume. I'm super interested in the content but it's so hard to hear without blowing my speakers out from another audio source immediately after. Obviously volume knobs exist for a reason, but just providing some feedback.

  3. She's obviously never actually been to Iran. I was hoping for the crispy saffron rice.

I dated an Iranian girl and she could knock out crispy bottomed rice whenever I could scrounge up saffron. It was always better than this.
